First time back for 3 years, just as summer was getting a full head of steam up and with two weddings to attend in January, it was good to be home. The tricky bit was managing to juggle one of the Great Walks, two working weeks and plenty of catch-ups, I think I managed ok.
First Christmas at home since I left 5 years ago, much better tree than I’ve managed in London.
Boxing day and I headed south to Queenstown to finally do my first Great Walk, the Routeburn Track, here’s the road to paradise with Glenorchy somewhere in the distance.
The A-team at the start of the track.
New Zealand just getting silly with the scenery, we stopped here for lunch and drank from the stream.
Lake Mackenzie, our 2nd night’s stop. For those interested, the water was freezing but fantastic for a sub 1 minute dip.
A day-trip from Milford Sound (by car, then a couple of hours walk) took us to Lake Marian, the water was marginally warmer than on the trek.
Back in Queenstown, with sunsets and evenings like this.
Wedding #1: Congrats Jamie & Francis!
My favourite place / beach in the world and thing I miss most about New Zealand, Tawharanui. First time I’ve ever had the place all to myself.
Wedding #2: Congrats Andy & Emma!
On the flight home, sad to be leaving but on to some pretty fun adventures in the near future.
